Can MEGANT Connectors Be Tightened from Below?

Share & Inspire

Whether the secondary beam is installed with the crane from the side, from above or from below, MEGANT installation instructions show the threaded clamping jaws on the bottom, with the nuts and washers tightened from the top onto the unthreaded clamping jaws. It is possible to reverse the placement of the clamping jaws so that the threaded clamping jaws are on the top and the unthreaded clamping jaws are on the bottom. The secondary beam may still be installed from the top or from below, but the nuts and washers will be tightened from below with this arrangement.

The orientation of the connector plates must not change, as the system is designed for the fully threaded screws to be loaded in primarily in tension.
