GIGANT Pre-engineered Connector Design Example

This example provides a step by step design procedure of a GIGANT pre-engineered connection system. The procedure provides a detailed step-by-step breakdown of the design essentials required to properly detail and specify a GIGANT pre-engineered connector. Depending on the connector location within the cross section of the primary and secondary beam, radial tension (perpendicular to grain splitting) reinforcement may be required. For simplicity, this design example demonstrates when this is not required. Similar to the design example on a RICON S VS connector, this example will shed light for the designer on the design methodology utilized to adequately calculate the capacities of pre-engineered connectors.
