At MTC Solutions, our R&D initiatives are dedicated to elevating the performance, cost-efficiency, and environmental sustainability of mass timber connections. Through extensive research and collaboration with industry and academic experts, we lead in developing innovative techniques and materials for modern mass timber applications. The many approvals and certifications we have received attest to the excellence of our work.
Our partnership with academic and research institutions has played a crucial role in shaping robust, practical, and approved solutions. Over a decade, this collaborative approach has led to significant product launches and industry advancements. Active engagement with various laboratories underscores our commitment to community-centric innovation, addressing the evolving challenges in the construction industry.
Our history stands as a testament to steady growth and adaptation in a new, fast-paced, and booming industry. Below are a few memorable milestones we've reached.
We obtained our first ICC approvals for partially and fully threaded structural fasteners to be used in modern mass timber material in North America, featuring carbon-steel ASSY 3.0 Ecofast, Kombi, SK, VG CSK, VG CYL fasteners.
1/4” (6 mm), 5/16” (8 mm), 3/8” (10 mm), 1/2” (12 mm)
The ICC approval extended to the carbon-steel ASSY 3.0 Flat Washer Head fasteners and stainless-steel ASSY A2 SK fasteners.
1/4” (6 mm), 5/16” (8 mm), and 3/8” (10 mm)
The ICC approval extended further to include fasteners installed at a 45° angle relative to the grain in steel-to-wood and wood-to-wood applications.
We tested and launched a brand-new line of pre-engineered connectors in order to further smooth design engineers' duty with the MTS15 for tension applications and MTBL for panel-to-panel applications.
We expanded upon our solutions roster, with the development and release of two stronger variations of our tension strap, the MTSI-30 and the MTSI-40. We also finalized the integration of the buckling capacity of ASSY Kombi LT 1/2" (12 mm) in our ICC approval report for partially threaded structural fasteners.
A not-so-small revolution happened with the testing, approval, and launch of the ICC-approved ASSY 4.0 series, a development of our already famous structural fastener line.
In addition to the RICON S VS series being awarded with an ICC approval, we made strides in interstory drift testing with the MEGANT E beam hanger—an extended version of the MEGANT with deeper clamping jaws specifically made and tested for seismic scenarios.
We also introduced the new MTC Predrilling Jig—a small but mighty tool that supports a more consistent and precise fastener installation with less effort and in less time.
