MTC Solutions is looking for a driven technical professional to join our Business Development & Technical Service team. This position sits at the intersection of engineering, pre-construction, and industry engagement, and will expand our team to increase our reach and impact within the mass timber industry.
The Product Engineer is part of MTC Solutions’ Product Application Engineering team, the group responsible for transforming product data and research findings into design tools that enable engineers and designers to specify and apply our hardware confidently.
This is a hands-on technical role for someone who understands how to turn an engineering test plan into a safe, repeatable, and well-documented physical test. You will work closely with MTC engineers to prepare specimens and fixtures, operate structural testing equipment and instrumentation, collect reliable data, troubleshoot test setups, maintain laboratory systems, and keep testing programs moving.
This position is intended for an early- to mid-career engineer who enjoys a mix of analysis, experimentation, testing, and product development. You will work with senior technical staff to plan research programs, develop and evaluate connection concepts, coordinate internal and external testing, analyze results, and help turn technical findings into practical recommendations for MTC products and design resources.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys open-ended technical problems and wants to create practical products, not simply analyze existing ones. You will work across the full product-development cycle: understanding the need, developing concepts, considering manufacturing and installation constraints, prototyping, physically supporting testing, analyzing results, and refining the design based on what you learn. The ideal candidate is technically curious, creative, cost-aware, and practical. You can capture many parameters and variables - strength, stiffness, geometry, wood behaviour, installation, fire performance, manufacturing cost, quality control, and market need - and turn them into efficient hardware that can actually be manufactured and used on real projects.
