The Ritchie Market building is a multi-use community hub that contains local businesses in a shared space. This open market was designed around transparency between the customers and the shops, and acknowledges the neighborhood’s past with an industrial aesthetic using brick and an exposed steel structure.
The second floor features a concrete composite system that was mechanically engineered into a cohesive structural unit. Bringing the space together is the visible glulam beam roofing, which provides a warmth that invites the community in and demonstrates both the structural and aesthetic strengths of mass timber.
