Steel to Wood Research with UNBC

This year has been an exceptionally busy year for our research and development team. This time we have tested our various ASSY screws for steel to wood connections. This project was done in partnership with the University of Northern British Columbia.

The aim of this testing was two-fold:

  1. Explore the effect of head shape and screw type on the strength and stiffness of the connection.
  2. Find the most cost-effective fastener solution that can be used in our other upcoming in-development products.

The following pictures show the testing set up. Two of the screws tested include the Kombi and the VG CSK. With this simple H-Block test, many parameters can be identified. This is why testing and research is crucial to providing code approved products in North America.
