What Is the Maximum Distance That Inclined Screws in a Screw Cross Can Be Spaced Apart?

MTC Solutions

It should be remembered that shear-compression screws promote element separation, while shear-tension screws do the opposite so that when combined, these tendencies cancel out one another. When designing screw crosses to transfer lateral loads, the shear-tension screw and the shear-compression screw should close enough to be overlapping in either member (along the line of force), as this reflects tested arrangements. Additionally, the minimum offset distance to avoid interference is 1.5D (CC).
